i've got a game cd called

    Arcade Machine 2
    "contains 1300 original arcade games"
thee disc says "for most games use - key 3 to insert a coin key 1 to play game
    it was made by
    Telescan.co.uk
and I bought the disc around 2009

the disc drive doesn't recognise the it.

    a similar problem
    Roger The Engineer -The Yardbirds
    REP-5088 Repertoire 2007
    2 x black discs
    this is also not recognised

I think I was able to play the game disc when I had a Vista laptop or maybe a XP machine.

is there any way I can back these up to blank cd
or in particular the game disc to a USB and play it off that

I'm guessing there may be difficulty playing a XP or Vista developed game in the current windows platforms nowadays
(although I've still got THIS Windows 7 laptop which still suits me at the moment)

is there going to be problems finding even a CD/DVD drive that will recognise the black disc format, or is it possible that maybe a desktop drive might better recognise it.

what made this question difficult for me to find answers was Google just like any search engine thought I was confusing the BLACK with the word BLANK which instead I could find nothing but BLANK in every search I tried

    thanks

    Mark

    Welcome to the laptop forums

Try right clicking on the “exe” file on the cd program your trying to load,
then choose properties you should see new menu choose compatibility,
then choose/click run this program in compatibility mode.

Alter the menu to windows xp, then see if it runs.

no the laptop doesn't recognise ethier the 'game disc' or the 'Yardbirds disc'
it starts up then goes "cu-chunk" (takes 1 sec) and thats it, nothing, so i can't even tell you whats on either discs.

the game disc 'contains' 1300 games and you play it off the disc.

i've upploaded some images and more info about where the game disc came from,

it bought it from this shop in 2009:
    http://telescan.co.uk/en-gb/front.html
    the website no longer exists

the centre has like a blank disc batch number printed: 7081B175 13, and factory pressed matrix is partly obscured by the glossy paste on label
but i peel it just enough to expose the matrix: R049-1708-5128

    i also got 2 dvd-rs from them
    - Essential Utils 2009
    - 100,000 XP & Vista Drivers

    the yardbirds discs
the label sides (of both discs) is the replica of LP record, the only marking on the play side (OBDs) is: IFPI-9475

hope this information in finding a solution

    thanks
