Black screen / blue window enter current password

    About a year ago my Acer aspire popped up the blk scan / blu wndw asking for current password , only it wouldn't take it , won't go past that point , period ! I had been in hospital a few days , it was working on plug only .when I got home that's what I found , still Have my original.battery .do I need to replace since it will no longer charge and won't take any password current or original ?
    What do I need to do at this point ?
