Hi guys, this topic was: "Switch to shutdown extra USB peripheals?"
i've changed it because i have no more in project to make a switch (for now...)

I've brought an USB Solderless Touch controller, who have an USB HUB integrated @ 3.3 VOLTS in output.
I?ve also brought an USB Dongle micro @ 5v (i was ignoring the 3.3v limitation from the solderless hub)
So i have taked the +5v from an external USB port, on the audio board.

Here there are the pics of my recent mod:

First, the COOLER MOD... i've noticed that i can't go UNDER 52°C with this mod... but the heatsink is cave, and the air should pass well....
:::SOLVED : cheap thermal adhesive, replaced with SilverArtic thermal paste, 3g @ 6€,
now on start the temp is 32°C, and viewing a DIVX via wifi + uncompressing a rar, goes at 48°C

also i've adapted it to a proper fitting
    [IMG]

Second, the BT fitting; i've opened it to make it "full pushed down", on the dongle the back plastic miss:

Third, the +5v Soldering, the solder is not perfect, as you see, byt all works well!
Of course, the red wire goes to the USB BT, the other wires (from the USB BT) goes to the USB controller (without the red wire, as in the picture)

remain the cooler doubt.. is 52°C a poor result? should i use the thermic paste?

PS: For the TV: there is NO SPACE for my adapter, so i've abandoned the idea, maybe the last trick is an USB IR receiver...

Re: Switch to shutdown extra USB peripheals?

Most people are using DIP switches, which open the 5 volt line to each USB device.

Please post pictures of your DVB T installation.

I have a very small ATSC tuner I am thinking of installing in the CPU cooler duct on the left side of the computer. The software which comes with the tuner can use a remote but I am not planning on using it because the video studders like crazy. I did find some very simple software where the video plays perfect, so I had to give up on the remote...

Thanx, but where i should put this switch??
I think isn't easy accessible also into the lower part of the netbook, into the "free box space"

Where did you get the USB connector that the bluetooth is attached too?

What program is telling you 52? They are not all the same, they measure temp in different ways. a1ctl will give you higher than actual for the CPU temp.

The connector is in bundle (2) with the touchscreen hub controller (solderless)

The app to measure the CPU is AcerFan v 1.6 ....

    Ok guys, i've solved:

iI was using a cheap thermal adhesive, replaced now with SilverArtic thermal paste, 3g @ 6€,
now on startup the temp is 32°C, and viewing a DIVX via wifi + uncompressing a rar, goes at 48°C.

The min. temperature to activate the fan is 50°C
