    Hi

My acer aspire one display went a bit funny in the last day. Started off with a blue vertical line, then a few minutes later 1inch on the right hand side of the display started flickering in a rastor like fashon with a buzz like noise from the screen. These seemed to be correctable with a slight bending of the casing. Then a few minutes later the screen went pale and slow.

Tried rebooting, but the dos screen had blured text. After a few jiggles of the casing, and a few reboots and power offs, things are no better. Tried also to remove the screen from its ribbon cable jumper and reattach, but no joy.

Tried the external monitor output, no probs, so not likely to be the GPU.

Anyone else had these problems? Sound like a faulty LED screen??

    Rob

To me, yes, it does sound like the screen has developed a fault. I've heard of people accquiring cost effective replacements from eBay and other online sellers.

Yes, just bought one on ebay for £38. Hope it works. Not impressed with the quality of acer now, the netbook is only 17months old, far too soon for a screen to fail I think.

The funny thing is, with the cheap asian replacements you get on ebay, you could probably buy all the parts and build an AAO for less than the cost of a brand new one LOLs

Acer really hasn't been known for quality, haha, but they are getting better with their newer laptops.

The webcam on mine died around 6 months after I got it. Got a RMA from Acer, but apparently the service depot refused to pay the shipping fee, so it was dropped off at the postal office. Luckily, I looked up the service depot for my area, and it was close enough that we could drive there and drop it off. Heh. Not so great warranty service either. Took nearly a month and a half to get the replacement part from Acer.
