My 'one' has recently developed a boot error. Basically a blue screen with a STOP: 0x0000007 type message.

I have worked out that it's something to do with the graphic drivers (it usually is the cause of driver conflicts in most PCs). So I'm able to boot into safe mode, remove driver in add/remove programs, restart, reinstall driver, restart and everything's fine. Trouble is it does this quite often now. Literally happened for the forth time just now in 2 days.

Now, I did notice this had started to happen after a few tweaks. I have installed ad-aware and run a scan and clean. Nothing major found, just the ususal MTU stuff. So I don't think this is to blame.

However, at the weekend it developed the black screen of death bios fault. I managed after a quick google to blind flash the bios to v3114. I've since found out that this version can be problematical. So I updated the bios the other day to v3308 using the windows flashing tool.

The problems have been here since then. I can only guess that there's a bios/graphic driver conflict, or windows has gone screwy and needs a reinstall.

Any suggestions before I wipe and start again? There's nothing that needs backing up so I'm ok to wipe and reinstall, but it's a few hours work so would like to avoid if possible.

Unfortunately, the safest way is for a complete wipe and reinstall. Not exactly what you want to do tonight, but the problem will only keep coming back until you do the reinstall. I have been there and done that, not on AAO but on an HP laptop.
