Boot Recovery CD from USB on XP

    I heard that this can be done but I'm having trouble I got the three cd's english, french and the system disk. I copied the system disk and the english and set the boot from my USB. But all that comes up is a black screen with a line at the top. I don't understand can this be done without an external drive? There was an rar file on the system disk cd maybe I need to extract that?

    Someone was selling the XP recovery on a usb so it must be possible.
