Is there a way to boot off a memory stick> I've checked the bios settings and can not find anything there for just plain usb. I am using this for Acronis backup tool.

What is a card reader boot? I've gone into the bios of they system and there is an option for a FDD drive, but when it boots it does not read the flash drive. During startup it says to hit the F12 key for boot options, but there the FSDD does not show?

I forgot a comma between card reader and boot.

So.. get a card reader, then boot from the memory stick.
