winflash you provided was v3.43, the same wich comes with bios v3309 from acer's site. Anyway i've tried with both, using your logo and bios version 3309 and 3305 too.
My aone now uses bios v3305, in the setup menu it shows "InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev3.5" :|

So it doesn't seem to work with anyone yet. Can you please tell us what version of AAO do you have and your BIOS version? Thanks.

With the web colors output requirement, I'm assuming that it works for color logos and images? An image of the owner and "If Found..." contact information can be a strong recovery aid. Heck, I might just scan my driver's license and edit out the sensitive stuff... *IF* you guys can get it working on the A150 :(

I guess the problem might be with the 3xxx series EFI/BIOS drivers. I got a D series Netbook, not a A series, this series BIOS are named 1.0x not 3xxx
If yours have a bootlogo by acer, it is definatly repalceable, the question is, what is diffrent. Maybe someone can try with a not RESed BMP of very small size. The D series might be more advanced versions capable of JPEG, while olders are not yet. If I feed Winflash with a BMP, it will be automaticly converted to jpg (you will later find it as test.jpg in your winflash folder).

Sadly I am very busy with job the past two weeks and not yet came to reverse the routine producing this error.

Is it really neccessary to use the winflash? If a method to do this on the A150, be discovered, I will do this, but my One is actualy running Mac OS X.

as already said i'm using v3305 bios. The bios has a bootlogo by acer so i'm almost sure i'ts replaceable. The matter is to find right image format and resolution (and i think also right file dimension in kbs). I've tried with uncompressed jpg (640*480, 800*600, 1024*768, 1024*600; 24bit color depth). I've also already tried with 640*480 .bmp but not with higer resolutions cause image weight in kbs would have increased too much compared to original bios dimension. Anyway on each try the winfash utility creates a new file in winflash directory called "test.jpg". This makes me suppose that logo immage shoud be a .jpg (the program tries to convert to jpg any image format i try to upload).Anyway i'm not able to recover right image parameters from this "logo.jpg" cause it appears to be broken : it has the same dimensions (in kbs) as my original jpg's but i can't open it in any image editing software and even windws can't show the preview.

    Just an additional info
I've also tried to open InsydeFlash.exe with Resource Hacker, this try has only showed some screen wich are not shown in the program : insydeflash appears to be a "modded" version of winflash utility wich is only a graphic gui for a command line winflash.exe program.
    This dialog window
    [IMG]
wich manages the "patch logo" option, shows that insydeflash can use bmp, jpg and also pcx file as input, automatically converting them in the right image format for the bios.

    Well,

The link in the site you linked points to a password protected server, and a Google search for Insyde EzH2O points to nothing that I can read...

So, I can't download the utility...

Ok I've got AOA150 and its working.
It seams that you have to swap BIOS picture with insydeEzH2O and use winFlash to flash new Bios.
After that I had a problem, AOA was switching itself of, so I moved my Bios to pendrive and renimed 3309.FD for ZG5IA32.FD.
    Flashed it as Recovery.
    And now everything works.

    later I will add picture

hope you'll have fun with that

My BIOS logo was successfully hacked with the tool!
I used the Gateway ZG7 3103 bios though.

I just want to say IT WORKS!!!!!! IT WORKS ON AN A150!!! I am ECSTATIC that I have a new bios screen, although I had the most trouble getting it. There are three or four things I want to say here:

    (1) FULL COLOR jpg pictures are absolutely possible, and I have one as my own right now.
    (2) The logo before replacement using the EzH2O must be 640x480 pixels.
    (3) If you want your logo not to look stretched, create the logo originally as 1024x600 size, then shrink to 640x480.
    (4) I had the most aggravating time getting the EzH2O program. The link provided is broken, so I had to register for a Chinese forum called haseebbs, which REQUIRED a CHINESE ID NUMBER that I had to find a generator for, just so I could register, just so I could download it!
    (5) When you use the EzH2O program, you will have a selection of multiple logos to replace in a drop-down box. I only selected the main logo, but this proved to be a small problem for me since my logo was full color. This lack of replacement of the InsydeH2O logo and Intel logo caused the logos to be placed on top of my full-color background with a black border. If you have black around your logo, you should be fine. When I get a chance to upload a picture of my own logo, it will make more sense.

I have uploaded the complete package of EzH2O and WinFlash here:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/238310999/ACER_Aspire_One_BIOS_Logo_Replacement.zip.html
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B72TN9IA
http://www.easy-share.com/1905408302/ACER Aspire One BIOS Logo Replacement.zip

I will soon upload some pictures of the boot logo in action on my own computer so you may verify that it works perfectly using the instructions by SP1950

in the download provided by SP1950 i assume that preset paths that appears are paths on his pc (D:\aa\aa.jpg; A:\aa\HDBH3.jpg etc...) so in your new "ACER_Aspire_One_BIOS_Logo_Replacement.zip" there should be paths to your files (C:\Documents and Settings\Netlink Ave Customer\Desktop\ACER Bios Logo Replacement\ACER Bios A150 (Logo\winflash\InsydeFlashWin3.43\Release\splash.jpg). It appears that insydeEXH20 program creates at his first starting a "EzH2O.INI" with some infos about the pc where the prog is being run. Then it upgrades this file with paths for bios files and images on that pc. I think we should del "EzH2O.INI" from the insydeEZH2O dir before starting the prog the first time, allowing the prog to create a new empty one.

anyway it worked even without doing this ^^

Agreed, it does work better that way.
Bonus points will be awarded to the first person to come up with a way to reposition, resize or remove the other two logos. ;) This is great fun.

I don't think it will be easy to reposition them. Anyway could be easy to discover the exact position above the bigger logo image and come up with a "template" so people could just crop them from original image. anyway i'm not going to flash the bios so much until i find the right image placement, also because my custom logo is almost all black so it had been easy to replace "intel" and "h2o" images with custom black empty jpgs..no one will notice them anymore:p

I did take the chance to replace the Intel logo with a nice AMD Phenom one but the idea of a template works even better.
Ah, so much potential for personalisation now.

I finally have those images I intended to post here that show my new BIOS logo.
I wanted my BIOS logo to match my desktop background, so I used the same picture, resized to 640x480.
    Here is my current desktop:

    Here is the BIOS logo:

...and here is a picture of my same desktop with the same camera to compare colors:

I've changed my boot logo as well, so it contains a picture and my name and phone number. Furthermore I've gotten rid of the ugly black and white "Intel Inside" logo, and changed it to the official Intel Atom inside logo. Finally I've gotten rid of the black borders of the "Insyde H2O Bios" and the "Intel Atom" logos, which otherwise would foul up the picture I've used for the boot logo.

All of it done on the AAO - I used Gimp and the Bios modification package listed previously in the thread.

Result (surname and phonenumber obfuscated for privacy reasons  ) :

Just a note, if you are using a picture for the bootlogo, be aware that at the top of the screen, there will be a line of black ":" which are printed out by the bios. Nothing can be done to get rid of them, without hacking the actual bios code. Either make sure your picture contains a black top border, or has a sufficiently "vibrant" background so you don't notice it during the 2 or 10 second display of the bios logo screen.

If there are someone out there who don't feel technical able to do it themselves after reading this thread, send me a PM, and I'll prep a bios file for them, with the picture and text of their choice.
