    Hi DutchDK!

Can you explain how you get rid of the the black borders on the InsydeH2O and Atom logos? Is it a cosmetical change (replaced the black borders with part of the bootlogo image)?

Yep, noting where the Insyde and Intel logo's go, make the black background transparent, and paste them in at the right place on a copy of the bootlogo picture of your choice, flatten the image, cut out the correct size rectangles, and use them as the Insyde and Intel logos, instead of the original ones.

Ofcourse I forgot to note the coordinates down where the images are displayed on the background 640x480 picture, but I'll do that and post it here, if I get a request to make a bios for someone. Otherwise I don't need to go through the procedure again.

Incidentally FYI, both the Insyde and the Intel logo also get stretched and squashed upon display with the same percentage factor as the 640x480 background (i.e. from 640x480 to 1024x600).

I am happy to report that I have a proper template ready for viewing. The areas in white indicate where the insydeH20 and Intel logos go.

The logos go INSIDE the white borders.

WARNING AND NOTE for those who are accidentally bricking their bios with failed bios files: The insyde flash program will allow improperly-formed bioses to be flashed. This means that you can cause your system to have the black screen issue reported by one of the other users. This problem is caused by inserting into a bios file a picture that is too large a file size. The theoretical maximum size is 100kb. If you use a file larger, you have the possibility of damaging the BIOS file.

Fortunately, there is an easy way to find out if your BIOS file is corrupted before you flash. After you have saved the bios file with EzH2O, re-open the same file again. If there is an error when opening, you have corrupted the BIOS file to-be-flashed. DO NOT USE THIS FILE. Discard this file (delete it), and on a NEW bios file, replace the image with one using a little less quality. Check the file size before flashing by right clicking and clicking on properties.

You can repeat this process until you get a good bios, then flash it.

I got rid of the insyde and intel logo the same way as replacing the acer picture. Just look at the dimensions it says for those and remake them in photoshop, one of them is bmp the other is jpeg. I made a black picture with both of them the same size and format as the originals and replaced them so they blend in with the black on my logo picture.

Ok! I used the template, changed the Intel logo, to the Atom logo (resized to maintain the proportions on fullscreen), and changed the acer logo to my own!

I follow the instructions to not get a picture larger than 100KB, and no problmes occourred! It´s everything working well!

    Thank you a lot!

Just wanted to drop in a quick word. Got the zip file that had both the flashing utility and the chinese program to edit the logo. I put in a 65k jpg file using that chinese program, then reopened the saved file as suggested and got no errors. Thought, cool all is good. Ran the flash program.. no errors. Rebooted, new image was there... started to boot, got to windows login screen then turned off! Noticed that the fan had been running loud during this process. Rebooted again, noticed this time that a few seconds of being on, fan went to full on speed, got to Windows XP screen and shut off.

I'm now beginning to panic and think, ok , I've gotta reflash from USB, hoping that it'll run far enough for me to start that process. Then I read that someone else had to remove the battery to do the usb, but I thought that to be odd, what does it matter if its on AC power. So instead I removed the AC line to boot from battery and when I did the fan did not go to full speed and all is fine. (Note: there was about a 30min time difference here) So either unpluging the AC line allowed it boot and fix itself OR the new BIOS had a much lower temperature tolerance (3310 on a AOA150-1777.) I've now been running for hours with no problems, rebooted several times and all is good. So I guess I would say after flashing, disconnect AC and try to boot if that happens and perhaps just wait a bit for it to cool off, it was running pretty hot when I did this since it had been on for hours.

I can say this though, my One is running much cooler than before (46deg right now) but I can't tell how much cause I didnt have a temp program installed previous to the update, but I can tell just by touching and the fan doesn't seem any more active than it was before.

Actually, I should have mentioned that myself. The 10-20 second reboot issue is a fairly common one after a new bios is put in. It can be simply resolved. The fastest way is just to remove the battery and AC and push the power button. You can then put them back in and boot without issues.

Steps for the newbie linux/bsd users:

1 - Install Unetbootin, an utility to create bootable live usb drives

2 - Run it, select FreeDOS and your USB drive and select download/install to your usb disk*
    *See NetbookTech for complete instructions.

3 - Get the latest bios from Acer Support and unzip it on your usb disk
*Go to Drivers, Netbook, Aspire One, Bios

4 - Install WINE, a Windows Emulator (sort of)

5 - Get EzH20 program and run it with WINE
Open the .fd bios file on your usb disk and then change the logo* via Components > Logo...
*Check out the handy template prior in this thread!

6 - After saving the bios file on disk go ahead and flash your bios :)
*See link in step 2 for more instructions on flashing proces

    - These steps are tested on an Acer 110 with bios revision 3310 -

Here is a modified 3310 BIOS I made for the AOA150:

And a mockup of what it actually looks like (made the Acer logo too big in this, but you get the idea of what it looks like on your system):

    Enjoy!

You also uploaded the version with Slic 2.1 right?
Your version is great! I downloaded and make a new logo with proper width and bars that don´t show the 2 dots at the start and letters at the end of the screen.

I tested it and work great. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C6AATQ96

Lmao! I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that or not hence why I originally uploaded it under a different filename for it here compared to other sites. >.> But yes, I did work my butt off manually replacing Acer's SLIC 2.0 with the 2.1 one in this. :D Figured people might appreciate that extra work of mine even if I wasn't being vocal about said change here since I don't know how this site will react to this kind of hack. I'll go put the other URL back now lol.

Nice work taking the graphics to the next step though! Yeah, the string of black semicolons that appears is annoying, but only present when trying to actually enter the BIOS settings so it didn't bother me too much as normal boots never show them.
