Apologies for posting such an elementary question, but I've never owned a computer that has no BIOS splash screen on startup, nor any documentation on BIOS commands. I've googled and searched this site, and can find nothing on how to bring up the BIOS screen. Tried F1 through F12 plus escape and delete plus the usual key combinations on startup - no joy.

    Anyone? Thanks.

Try holding F2 as soon as you press the power button.

No Splash screen? Are you using an external LCD Monitor by any chance? All AAO's, to the best of my knowlege, have a Splash screen, which comes up over the top of the normal POST screen (this can be disabled in the BIOS settings).

I asked about an external monitor as quite a few times I've noticed my 22" LCD will power up, but by the time it's recieved an analyzed the signal coming from the AAO / PC, the computers themselves are already booting the OS.

Try "tapping" F2 as soon as you press the power button.

It's a very iffy thing. The correct key is F2. I would agree with the above post to tap the F2 key as soon as you hit the power button. IF you haven't done so before the "white" line stripe appears on the bottom of the screen, it's probably too late. At that point I think it's better to let it load Windows and the quit rather than just hitting the power off key.

I think "aborted" starts lead to Windows problems down the line.
