My AA1 has a cracked screen, to the point it cannot be fixed. My question is if I can dismantle the AA1 (I have done previously to upgrade the RAM), is there some way I can substitute the main screen for a spare computer monitor I have?

I've tried simply plugging in the external monitor, however the screen doesn't come into focus until after the XP log in screen. The main screen is damaged in such a way that I cannot view anything in order to log in.

    Any suggestions?

Just replaced mine. Got a replacement for £80.00 of e-bay. Very simple procedure, using the very clear instructions on the wiki and in the forums. Took me about half an hour.

I just replaced my broken screen. Not going to get another touchscreen for now though.

runpda.com is where I got it from.

Actually purchased it via eBay though. This seller amazed me with an exact OEM match and quick delivery! Highly recommended!

I'll second the above recommendation. We had an "oopsie" and cracked the screen on my 1 month old aspire. Ordered a replacement from the above vendor via ebay and had it in 7 days (Taipei to Tennessee). Pricey though -- $100 + $20 shipping.

Could someone please tell me where is this wiki containing "very clear instructions"? I've been searching it for some time now, and no luck.

    1. First of all. I have an AAO with "mixed" specs: somewhere it says it's an 150 AW Seashell White and somewhere else, on the back, it says it's a ZG5. I'm confused.

    2. The LCD screen is broken, plain and simple, and needs replacing. I've searched for other screens but there's a throng of results and I don't know which one to pick.
Some are only shipped to the US, which is good because I live in Europe :|, but I can't tell if others are good for me.
There are some basic criteria. First, it must exactly match my current screen colour (white), second it has to be compatible with my model, third - it must be shipped to Eastern Europe. I'm more concerned with the first two.

[edit] Long story short - how can I find (if possible) an exact replica of my current AOO LCD screen?

[later edit] I think I got a piece of the puzzle. Is it safe to assume that I will be replacing only the actual screen, not the screen plus the frame surrounding it?

I need help with this one. Thanks.

Same boat. I cracked my AOD150-1920's screen (by dropping it, like an idiot, I freely admit that). I'm not dropping more than half the cost of the netbook on screen repairs, so, I figured I might try and do it myself.

Trouble is, I can't find any instructions, and I know the AA1 is built differently than larger notebooks, in that (I think) I have to disassemble the entire thing to try and get at the display.
