I called Acer yesterday and asked for recovery disc. Took not much time, no mention of charge was made and they said they are sending two discs. A CD for system set up and a DVD for recovery.

Just in case someone is wondering:
I bought my Acer Aspire One ZG5 9" Windows XP in Malaysia and after reading this thread I phoned Acer Support about the recovery discs.
I was told they were not available in this part of Asia and they did not even have some to sell me.

Acer insist that the built-in eRecovery System (ALT + F10) is all I need ! Is this tue ?
I have never seen a message on my AAO telling me to burn a Recovery Disc.

I told the Acer rep about this thread and he said he was interested to look at it but was also sure that there would be no change in policy.
By the way I went one step above the usual phone assistance to get this answer.

Anyway, I have an extra 4 years (5 years total) warranty so I'm not too worried ;)

All the best, woz of oz

The reason I asked for a set of recovery discs is in case of hard drive failure...there will be no recovery available in that caes.

I just called Acer. Ordered recovery discs for my 2 day old D150. 11 1/2 minutes on the phone and discs are being shipped free of charge. They are covered under the 90 day software warranty.

Just to update that this is still their practice.

I did not need the receipt, but I did need to register my AA1 and give them the S/N.

I don't understand what you did. I understand opening the ISO with winRar and extracting the contents to a USB drive. However! that is the end of my understanding. did you boot from the Windows 7 install DVD, if so where did you get the Windows 7 install DVD? Maybe you were meaning a Windows 7 System Restore Disk that you made?

After getting Windows 7 running "just right", I foolishly flashed the BIOS from 1.09 to 1.21, without backing anything up. As a result, my D250 is now a brick. I don't have a good copy of XP OWN, my version of Windows 7 was an upgrade version, and to topp things off, I messed up the partition. Nothing is working here.

I called Acer today and they are sending the disks, free of charge. My machine is 5 months old. Acer never asked when or where I bought it, actually the only thing they asked for was the SNID. During my conversation with the Acer rep, I got the impression that the restore/recovery disks are sold, however she is sending mine for free.

She walked me through a couple of steps, and I just kept telling her that the result was the BSOD (the truth). Hope the disks arrive before the weekend so I have some time to get things resolved (and backed up).

    Tom
