Can 802.1x connect to 802.11abg?

    I just purchased a HP Chromebook 11 G5 for college and while setting it up found that it doesn’t connect to the WiFi. I checked the college IT page and found that the WiFi is 802.1x, while the laptop has 802.11abg. Should I return the laptop or can I find a fix?
