I have an Acer Aspire one with Linpus Linux, or some version of it. Since a couple of days I can not connect to internet anymore  . The network center application on my desktop (I have actually xfce4) does not work.

I have tried to mess around with NetworkManager, which seems to be running but I do not know how to establish a connection. For example running "nm-connection-editor" and then trying to set up a new connection ends up in errors like
    "ERROr : file nm-connection-editor.c: line 104 (nm_connection_editor_update_title): assertion failed: (s_con)"

How can I try to start a connection (which usually starts automatically when I log in, but unfortunately not anymore)?

Both wireless and ethernet seem to be dead so I can not even access internet to re-install some of the packeges.

    Please help me!

    Enrico

PS:If you are wondering how it all started, there you go: Everything happened, believe it or not, when I was playing around with the task bar (xfce-panel). I erased the bar by accident and when I put it back, there was no connection symbol anymore and the connection did not work.

If it was all working before and you seem to have messed up the settings behind the scenes, sounds like your best bet would be to do a factory reboot with a usb flash drive. Worked for me. See "Make a USB recovery disk" No,2 here : http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/09/05 ... _one_tips/
