    I guess not.

In a nutshell: Mac OS X can be installed on the 8GB SSD, but it's gonna be real slow and you won't have much space left (less than 1 GB on a standard installation).

@Sid: I sent you a private message yesterday night. Did you get it?

    Yep :)

I have to get around to running OSX on a One.
So I am thinking about getting another One to test software and hardware configurations on, looks like it could be a 120gb unit for the extra internal space. Only £229 - I must find a store that sells a six cell battery in the UK.

running iAtkos v4 on a 8GB A1 - after major clean-ups (languages, fonts, large kexts) I have 1.5GB space left. write speeds on the SDD are terribly slow.

how is the speed on the 8 gig for internet and open office? How about with more ram? I am using this for email, office word, and basic funtion. When you say slow, is it usable or are you saying slow and not for use?

Why not add a 16GB SDHC in the expansion slot and format it prior to OSX installation. That way, you would have 32GB of space.

The card readers don't work with Mac OS X on the One. See my topic about iATKOS.

I am running OS X from an external USB HD. Startup and running speed are fine. Obviously having the external drive sort of defeats the point of having such a small netbook in the first place though.

    Would a larger SSD help?

    Hi,

do you think a larger SSD would help in dealing with the speed issues?
Did anybody actually replace the internal 8GB SSD with a larger one and install os x on that drive?

Would be great hearing from you!

A larger AND a *faster* SSD, yes.

Is the SSD so slow that it's unusable? Would you recommend not putting OSX on an Aspire One with an SSD?

    It is, unfortunately.

Been there, done that. OSX on the One's stock SSD is almost unusable. Try and get a 1.8" ZIF drive to replace the SSD, and you'll be fine.
