Hi I have been trying all day and have been reading post after post. I have enabled the XFCE desktop as rjm post and have activated compiz successfully. Have many of the features active such as wobbly windows etc. I have added destops but as yet cannot activate the cube. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you ticked the box beside "Desktop Cube" in the Compiz Management Console?

Thanks for the suggestion but yes the box is ticked as is the rotate cube one. When I press ctl+alt and click etc nothing happens. I am wondering if the keys are set properly.

    Where are horizontal workspaces.

So far I haven't managed to get any effects working.

    Linpus.
I've found CompizConfig Settings but I can't find where to switch the effects on.

Press ALT+F2 and type in "compiz-manager" without the quotes and press enter.
The settings will apply in about 6 seconds. You'll have to do again after you restart. The cube should work without adding any workspaces.
