    Dear all:

First of all thank you for supporting this excellent forum. I came here to post this topic, since I have been around for days looking everywehere over here. if someone else had a problem like mine. Sorry if this topic is old, maybe I searh using the wrong terms.

I have a ZG5 builded for Latin America. The original system came in spanish, with spanish keyboard as well. When I loaded the system for first time. it has a 800*480 screen resolution that later was changed automatically by the 1024*600 that the system must have according to specs. When I reboot the system, than a new monitor was installed, a Digital Flat Panel (1024x768) instead of my original Plug and Play monitor, that I saw at the beggining. Whwn this happened, the option for a 1024*600 resolution was gone. This monitor has all possible combinations but this one. I tried to uninstall, and the install the default driver for windows plug and play monitor, and then it it only gave me a max of 800*600. I change the modes manually in the registry and worked, but the config get lost when it reboot.

I have reinstalled the system using it´s original recovery in spanish, and happens the same. I also use a recovery set in english, using xp pro, home and xp lite, without no luck. I algo used the Gold drivers for develpers created for the GMA 950, and nothing changes. The funny thing here is that when I got my netbook all formatted it boots sometimes with the 1024*600 and some times with 800*480, when loading the BIOS logo, I can tell because I look at the image.

Have anybody had this same situation ? I´m jus thinking to give it back to the store, because this is turning so frustating right now.

Thanks a lot for your comments.

    Best Regards

    Juan

    Juan, try this.

right button on desktop --> properties --> Configuration bar --> advanced options --> monitor (i have spanish version) --> check "stealth modes monitor dont support" ("ocultar los modos que este monitor no puede mostrar" in spanish).

Thats fix resolution to 1024x600 in my case

NOTE: My driver is "monitor plug and play".

    Saludos

Thanks Raxor, but in my case that doesn´t work. I lost the 1024x600 option even in the hidden modes, for the Digital Flat Panel driver as well as for the Plug and Play Monitor.

    Saludos

Have you tried using Astray? It provides a menu of all resolution options even if the panel is not capable of the resolution. You can search for it here or over at wiki.eeeuser.com. I use it to adjust the resolution to support games, but I would think it might provide you a fix to the problem.

Hi i have the same problem. Since this happens since post or even if you i get in bios, i believe it's not software related. It happened to me after i open it to change the thermal paste cause i had high temp. I believe i something didn't connect as it should be, even though i reopened it and reclosed and pulling and pushing the cables many times. I even updated the bios but no luck. Whenever it wants i get 1024@600 and all the other times i have 800*480 since post.

    Sorry for my bad english.

    edit: This is my problem

I am also having this problem and am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get 1024x600 back as an option. Has anyone figured out another solution because showing the hidden resolutions in the monitor options isn't doing anything for me.

Hi guys it´s me again. I finally solved my issue. Eddie i saw your video and that´s the same problem I was into.

I returned the equipment to the vendor, the FLEX CABLE of the monitor was damaged, so they changed it. And that solved evertything. Somehow when this cable is not ok on Netbooks, the Windows Operating system doesn´t not recognize the 1024x600 resolution, and also it move the screen to the left. It seems that my cable was broken, that´s why sometimes I get the screen OK and then when I close my equipment and turned it on again, it goes wrong. Because of the movement of the top of my computer.

 I hope this will help a lot mor of people... don´t get crazy like us, this is HARDWARE FAILURE, nothing to do with drivers.

    Best Regards,

    Juan

So if it is a hardware problem does anyone know where you are able to pick up a replacement cable?
