Can't access network centre or internet??

    This is the first time i have used one of these forums and hope you can help.
    I have an aspire one and it has been working fine for six months. However now can not access the internet or any web based application. When I go in to setting/ network centre it will not open, so I can not even see what is going on with the networks?
