Every time I try to go online, I get the message "Server not found: Firefox can't find the server at en.us.acer.yahoo.com." My netbook, a refurbished Acer Aspire AOA 110-1831, arrived on Friday, and I've been able to get on line every day until today, although on the first try I would usually get the error message, then be able to open Firefox on the second try. The Acer is plugged into the same router as my desktop.

I would appreciate any help that you can give me.

Open a terminal window and type ifconfig. The second line in the paragraph to the right of eth0 should start out something like the line below (taken from my desktop system, your address will be different:
    Code:
    inet addr:192.168.0.101 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
If the indet addr doesn't start with 192.168 then your AA1 and your router probably aren't talking to one another
