On my Aspire One, I can't seem to turn the wireless on. It used to be on and work automatically, though I only used it a few times. I found the switch, apparently, on the right front. But whenever I move the switch, it just shows what I assume is a "wireles off" icon (a satelite dish with a red "x"), and the little light (it seems there is one) on the keyboard surface adjacent to the switch never goes on.

I've tried to enable and disable wireless via Control Panel, but that does not work. Is there any other way to turn it on? This computer has taken at least one pretty good knock--do I have a hardware problem? (If so, the computer is nearly useless to me; I got it to have a wireless device when traveling. Is this something I can get fixed realistically [I'm in Japan for a year].)

This computer came with no user manual or any support docs. Is this forum site the only support available?

    thanks, jeff b

What model AAO is it? Certain models require both "LaunchManager" and "Acer ePowerManagement" installed to enable the wireless on and off functions. Check your add/remove programs list (for XP), Programs and Features (Win 7) to see if they're installed. If it's running Linux then best of luck to ya.

I've recently been experiencing similar problems, unable to turn WiFi on after my Win 7 D250 has been to hibernation. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen i just reboot and it works again.

If none of the above works, you might have to disassemble and check te card it ould have dirty contacts that just need cleaning or it could be completely cactus requiring replacement.
