As stated in several other posts on this thread, for the black model, CDW said the ship dates were changing on the site because they ordered more and that is when they expected the new orders, not the current orders. They said the system just updates it each time for their last placed orders with Acer.

On another note, for some reason CDW just sent me an RMA number to return my Aspire One? wtf? It has my info, address and all on it.

Really? Strange. I have just submitted an RMA request for the one I ordered in this thread. First looked like the ram was faulty. It wouldn't pass a ram test and now I can't get it to do anything. I felt lucky for grabbing one of these

My suspicion came from the random blue screen messages I was getting in XP. None of the errors were the same so I tested it Memtest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic. You can get them both on the Ultimate Boot CD and it goes pretty easily onto USB. Let it run a few passes, you should be fine. Mine couldn't complete one pass. I've found it also difficult to get it to turn on the past few days. I hit the power button the screen stays black and I can hear the fan start...etc

    Hope yours is fine though.

** CDW HAS 160gb/6 cell in White right now.

As of today (OCT 1) CDW is showing the white 160/6 in stock. I just ordered one and their dude called me back and said YES it is shipping today.
On edit - now showing out of stock again, might need to call. Well I got mine (I think). :?

Is there a simple tutorial for putting it on USB drive and making it bootable? Also do I enter the bios to change something to boot from USB? Ive never had to boot from USB before.

    I'm not exactly sure.
What I did was plugged in USB drive. Ran command prompt. Start->run->cmd

In command prompt I typed in the following: "diskpart"
When it loads find your USB drive with "list disk"
Then when you found it type in "select disk n" where n is the number of the USB drive <-- make sure you get this right!
    Then type "select partition 1"
    Then type "active"
    Close command window.

    Then go here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2006/03/25 ... sb-device/
Follow the directions put the ISO in the directory created from step #2 "Download and launch UBCDfix2.exe, a UBCD folder is created"

Follow step #4 and point it to the drive letter of your flash drive and wait. When it is done put USB drive in Acer and when you see the BIOS logo hit F12 select boot from USB. Hit enter when prompted and the Memory checkers are in Motherboard tools.

    Hope that helps...

The first part will not work it only shows the hard drive disk and nothing else. I followed the direction on the link you posted and created it that way, but the Aspire ONE will not boot from the USB, the USB drive flashes a couple times and then it boots windows. I'm getting irritated at this thing now.

My RMA went through. I was told that I may see a replacement towards the end of the month when they receive more in.

CDW is trying to screw me on mine. They promised a refund and I sent it back only to get an email just now saying they received it and have credited me for future CDW purchases. WTF, I have records of our conversations about this whole things where they asked if I wanted another ONE in different color, or Black but later on or my money back, I said money back, where CDW store credit came from I have no clue. And around we go. Pay a premium with CDW and get a hassle,

Sheesh I didn't have a problem but I didn't ask for a refund, simply a replacement. Did yours go bad as well? Or just didn't want it? I talked to them a few times mainly because I have a looming charge on my account from the one they ordered to replace mine. I was told that I would get refunded and then charged for the new one. Extra hassle, we'll see or I will flip.

My RMA order has a shipping estimated date: [Qty. 1 Backordered - Est. Ship Date 11/1/2008]

    :-(

Well I've received my replacement netbook from CDW. The two Acer boxes have a puncture wound and the CDW box is untouched. There looks to be delivery notifications on the main Acer outer box in ink pen. Fired it up and it froze during Windows setup. Tried to restore factory and go again, still failed. Checked the hard drive and it is damaged. That is now two that have not lasted a week for me. I editted the partitions to shove data past error spots (temp fix), see how long it will work. I don't want to send it back as I am going to go broke eventually from paying for shipping this thing back and forth.
