CDW receiving 160gb/6 cell in Onyx Black soon.

    Thanks for the update. I was told I was 101 in the list so it sould be happy days soon. Hopefully the website confirms shippment some time today. Let us know if the website changes for you.

    AA1 goodness is within reach.

    That would suck if they got shorted and only got 100 in, lol


    I'm like 87 on the list cant remember where they said it was at exactly when ordered but the list was at 85 or 86 I think. I hope they ship to use soon, or I will cancel it. I only paid extra to get it now.

    I placed my order at CDW on Friday. I've been calling since yesterday and have gotten so many different stories I'm not sure what to believe anymore.

    The last guy I just got off the phone with said that it looks like the shipment DIDN'T come in as nothing has been checked in since yesterday. He kept reassuring me that as soon as it gets in they will ship out (DUH! why wouldn't they???)

    Unless someone who has ordered from CDW has an actually tracking number in hand, I am going to assume that the black aspire one isn't coming in until a later date.... which is a bummer as I really need this before I take my trip.

    I hate it when companies cannot get their act together and at least tell you whether or not the inventory is IN or NOT. :x

    Agreed.

    I am beginning to think along the same lines. Until someone posts that they have tracking information or that the website shows their item has shipped, I have to think that they were not received by CDW yet.

    The wait continues. Oh well. We aren't the only ones. We are just the ones complaining about it on a public forum.

    We will get it just in time to read that they are putting out the WiMax or 3G models. Early adopters always get the shaft.

    I wouldn't put too much stock in it. I assume they are told by Acer that they will ship x units on x day. So, they put the web page up and take orders and set shipping dates based on what they have been told. When the shippment falls through, CDW has the customer service nightmare that they are having with the black AAO's.

    So it is Acer's fault to a certain extent, but it is also CDW's fault for placing reliance on shipping dates by a company that has not met a shippment deadline with a certain product line yet.

    I guess we will have to wait for our HDD, 6-Cell edition of the AAO a little longer.

    CHANGING SUBJECT OF POST:

    They placed a pending transaction on my credit card the moment I placed the order. I keep checking there because if they run the transaction, I can only assume that shippment isn't too far behind.

    Here is to hoping...

    I just pulled the trigger on the black one from CDW. They approved my credit card and they said it should ship within a day or so, depending where I am in the que. He also said the white one will be about a week but I'm not sure if we can trust that. Only 3 days ago it said another 3 weeks. Anyway, I cancelled my order with Amazon and we'll see how it goes. As for CDW, they seem to do a pretty good job. Their customer service is great and they will even ship to my military PO box in Germany. Amazon wont even do that!! Hope it ships tomorrow, I'll keep you guys in the loop. Cheers... CHip

    Well upon calling again, they now say October 6 is when the next shipment is coming in.

    According to this rep, they only got 50 in the shipment although they claimed at the time of my order they were getting 200 of them. Mind you this is the same shipment that two other reps claimed did not arrive or could not confirm that it arrived.

    At this point I am wondering if I should just cancel my CDW order. Not sure what advantage it has over anywhere else as no where else has them in stock anyway and I am paying a premium in shipping and tax at CDW for this model.

    Very very very disappointed.

    This is getting ridiculous. It seems like every single person at CDW has a different answer. I just wish I knew for certain one way or the other so that I could decide what to do. The only reason I'm paying the extra sales tax and shipping is because they were supposed to ship today when nobody else even knows when they'll be getting the order.

    I'm pretty sure that your order won't ship today. I really don't think they got any in at all.. unless of course someone here who has ordered it can show they got a tracking number or a delivery confirmation.

    This is the same experience I had previously with CDW many years ago and it's the reason I stayed away so long. I guess things haven't changed.

    We could all call CDW right now and speak to someone and report back. I guarentee that there would be at least 5 or 6 different answers as to what is going on. In big corporate America, the right hand often doesn't know what the left one is doing.

    What makes me mad is that I am suposedly 101. If the October 6th suposed shipment is another 50, I am SOL until the third shipment (possible late October/early November). By then I expect other retailers would have all colors in plentiful stock.

    While I understand that there is an amount of skilled labor involved in producing these netbooks (a lot of it must be automated), how come Acer doesn't max out it's workforce or work overtime to try to stay on top of demand? An unhappy customer is a non-repeat customer, or do you think it is further up the supply chain (ie shortage of Intel Atom chips or HDDs)?

    I just got off the phone with CDW. They told me they are out of the Black Ones (just ran out, so I'm assuming they fulfilled the existing orders. They are expecting the white one next week (600 are coming in, 69 are preordered). However, after I ordered, the web site states shipping date on 10/20 (a month, not next week). I kept my white one on order at Amazon, I'll just see who ships first and cancel the other one....

    I was not meaning to overwork the current labor force or promote unfair labor practices so I can get a laptop faster. I don't know the capacity of their facilities or their workforce. I was meaning that they could shift existing workers (or hire more workers) to the AAO product line, retool other Acer product lines manufacturing processes to help meet the demand for the AAO, or add additional shifts of fresh workers (if they aren't running 24/7 already).

    I intended no mistreatment of any hard working person in the Acer factories. I was just wondering if Acer was effectively using their current resources (or future planned) in meeting with demand for their popular netbook line.

    Looks like the good old model of supply and demand is in effect. Demand is high and supply is low. In a perfect free economy that would mean that price would rise until a natural equal between supply and demand has been reached. You can say we are beating the rise in price by locking in with CDW now. There is a silver lining for you. Ha.


    My problem now is do I cancel CDW and jump in at Amazon or somwhere else that is taking pre-orders and possible get pushed further back in some kind of que? Therefore, waiting longer than if I had stayed with CDW in the first place?

    Then where is mine dang it (101 is less than 150). I live in Bloomington IL. Mine would for sure come from that warehouse. How did you find this information? Do you have tracking or shipping info yet?

    I got the info from CDW directly (not chat, nothing against those people but they are not accurate), don't worry if yours is coming from that office your fine. It will ship out today or tomorrow just give them time to get things in and out. I'm not going to worry about it anymore, I'm not too far ahead of you anyway in the list.

    I don't believe it.

    My condensed calls in order:
    Call1: stock arrived but didn't get checked in yet. call tomorrow.
    Call2: stock arrived but we don't know how many
    Call3: stock never made it in. Next available is 10/6 depending on where you are in the queue
    Call4: stock came in but it's hard to tell if you are one of the ones that will get in since there were people in the queue ahead of you.
    Call5: stock arrived but you are not in that pool that came in. Only 50 units came in.

    Thats not what they just called me and said. I think some people at CDW are looking at the wrong information (especially the chat people). Where are you located, you might be getting yours from the location with only 50, mine is coming from the location with 150

    Honestly I'm about done worrying about it though. If it comes it does, if not, then I can cancel the order and be done with it.
