CDW receiving 160gb/6 cell in Onyx Black soon.

The Las Vegas location was scheduled to receive 50 and Illinois 150.

 

I was wondering where the 50 were going.

The "Item is Backordered" and "Shipping Date TBD" have been removed from under the item on my order status page on the CDW website. I guess the CDW site updates at around 4:30 CST. I have noticed changes to my order take place around then.

I am assuming that this is a good sign...

 

I've been bumped from Backorder Status to:

Status: Item(s) have not yet shipped

I hope this is a good sign?

 

I wouldn't get too excited yet. Mine did the same thing only to say that it was backordered with a shipping date of 10/16

 

I am happy to report that I just got of the phone with my CDW account rep and my order has been fulfilled and it will ship out tonight! I would expect most of you to recieve shipping notifications within the next couple hours!

Just an FYI I ordered mine on Monday around lunch time so they were not sold out when I placed my order. This means that everyone here should be in the the first allocation!

I just checked with my credit card company and they hit my credit card about 30 minutes ago, so I guess it is true!

 

I ordered mine Friday the 19th. I'm not worried if it don't ship today it will tomorrow. I picked the quicker 1-2 day UPS over the sometimes unreliable DHL notebook shipping so it shouldn't take too long to get here.

I haven't checked my debit card to see if it was charged yet.

Does CDW give you the UPS tracking info?

I've ordered some barcode scanner stuff and they send you an email entitled "CDW Shipment Confirmation" with the tracking numbers.

 

Second day, CDW still not sure where their sure-thing-Monday shipment is, I've had my order in since late last week and I should be up for fulfillment from this batch from what I was told. If they don't know where this stuff is by tomorrow night, I'm canceling. Since I don't trust Buy.com and I don't yet have the option to preorder Onyx Black at Amazon, I guess that means I'm out of options.

Acer hasn't botched this launch quite as badly as did MSI, but they are coming really close. OK, maybe they're not repeatedly missing stated deadlines, raising prices or swapping out touchpads, but they're also not being the least bit communicative with either their retailers or their consumers about when they actually expect to have these things available for sale.

I have to say that I am really displeased with CDW's website setup-- the bait-and-switch "two-pass" shipping estimates, the sales tax tacked on at the last stage of the ordering process, and the fact that the order status page is so impossibly vague (mine will only state "Processing Order") that we all have to keep calling to get all of this "clarified" (rather, to collect all this conflicting and ultimately meaningless information).

This is clearly not a company that is set up to do business with impatient, thrifty individuals (as opposed to equally inefficient organizations), and perhaps they shouldn't have aggressively exposed themselves to their deficiencies in this sector by being the first stateside business to claim to have a very hot, very individual-oriented product up for sale. Like everybody else, I wouldn't have even looked at CDW if there were any other "promising" options, but so far the promises have been broken, and I don't see any reason to pay the 10% shipping-and-tax premium if they end up being no more in the loop than any other retailer, to say nothing of us poor sots out here in the cold.

What's with Amazon dropping the ball on making black preorders available? Do they know something we don't? For the love of Nintendo, SOMEONE from Acer should just tell us SOMETHING about what to expect and have it be semi-true for once.

 

I just called, ordered mine on the 18th, they said they're still on backorder and I was not in line to get into the shipment from monday due to the backorder. He said to be expecting it around the 4th or 5th of Oct at the earliest.

 

This is disappointing. I ordered mine Saturday the 20th, and just got off the phone with a representative who told me that I wasn't in on the first batch that just came in. He said that the next batch is getting in the first week of August. I can only hope that he was wrong.

 

I wouldn't trust any answers I got from CDW at this time. So far they have given me a different response every single time I've contacted them. So if you called them back you'd probably hear that they just received yours and are getting ready to ship to you, then the next person will tell you you won't get one till 10/16. Who knows?

I found a place that has the brown in stock. I just don't know if I want to go with that color or risk continuing to wait for a response from CDW. I really wish I could trust the information they've given me but there are too many contradictions.

Thats is weird because I was under the impression that Acer hasn't even released ship dates for the brown windows xp, 6 cell battery, 160Gb version in the US. is this a US site or Europe you found it on?

Supposedly they had the black and blue earlier this morning but already sold out. Which is too bad because I would have bought it instantly. I don't really care for the brown. I would like either the black or white.

 

And the description says it has a DVD RW drive. I think I will wait for CDW or Amazon or someone else. I'm not really digging the brown either. Would anyone get a pink one or wait a few more weeks for the color they wanted in the first place.

 

So is there a definitive answer on what is going on at CDW? I'm thinking of killing my order and trying to get one elsewhere.
