Anyone got this running on Linpus?

    I followed http://harveynick.wordpress.com/2008/08 ... spire-one/ but when I try to run it I get

/opt/celtx/celtx-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgio-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

and have no idea what it's on about...

    Many thanks,
    Rowantree

    Hi Rowantree

The instructions on that link aren't quite right.
Open a terminal and cd into the directory you saved the Celtx file, then type:

sudo tar -xf Celtx.tar.gz --directory /opt
    sudo chown user -R /opt/celtx
    sudo ln -fs /opt/celtx/celtx-bin /usr/bin/celtx

Now you should be able to open Celtx by typing celtx in the terminal.

Sorry, Rowantree, but those instructions have stopped working for me.
Only way I can get it to run now is by opening a terminal and typing:
    cd /opt/celtx
    ./celtx

If I suss it I will post again.

Cheers for replying I'll give that a bash anyway.

I downloaded Celtx 2.0 (if that makes a difference).

Let me know if you get on any better.

I have to say I had no problem getting this to work without any hacks. Also I have used it extensively and it's rarely if ever crashed. In fact I cannot remember a time when it did. Have you updated your Linpus installation via the auto update feature? Perhaps there is some patch which is installed on my machine which is not on yours which is letting it work.

If that does not work and you really must use script writing software then I can tell you the Final Draft works perfectly under Wine (and probably the easier to install PlayonLinux). The only downer being that Final Draft is commercial :(

No I am using 1, I had no idea 2 was even out I only installed it at most two months ago when I got my AA1!

As I said you may want to try PlayonLinux which lets you run certain Windows applications. I tried the Windows version of 2.0 under it and it seems to download, install and work without any problem. That said I did not test it for very long. PlayonLinux makes installing and using Windows apps very easy on Linux and is certainly better than many other often expensive options.

Anyway I will install the Linux version later when I have time. I don't want to install it yet incase it messes up what I have already.

Thanks for that, I'll give that a look over the weekend... along with trying to see where/how to get this missing library.

Sadly I cannot get it to work either, I even had problems unpacking the file. Did you manage to get anywhere?

    Hi,

Nope. I raised a question in the Celtx forums but no-one has answered as yet. Bit of a pain this as I'd just decided I really liked Celtx and oh it'll also run on Linux so that's even better... ho hum.

As I said perhaps you can try the Windows version under PlayonLinux it seems to work without any problems :) I know it seems odd, but that could be the solution for the time being. Also playonlinus is easy to install and free!
