    hello,
    [bad english, i know]
some time ago i bought an kingston ultimate 8gb 266x cf card. i ordered an cf-zif adapter on ebay.
using this adapter, bios finds the card but the speed is horrible! hdtune shows 1,4mb/s and during boot its even slower, because during booting windows xp the cf card freezes and it takes 1,5 hour to boot! so i bought another adapter (other seller, other adapter(colour)) and using this one bios doesnt even recognice my cf card.
are these adapters realy that bad quality? or am i doing something wrong??
please send me a link which adapters are confirmed to work on ebay.

    thanks, Jeroen

Well I must disappoint you but CF is not quite HDD replacement solution simply coz, even if it runs very well, it has very limited number of writing cycles usually from 10k to 20k - meaning that yours CF card will wear out very fast. Even cards that have up to 200k cycles cost like small SSD and therefore this solution is not profitable.

This whole thingy with CF cards can be very good at systems with low write potential such as mp3 players, but in computers its whole other story - page file, internet cache, system restore and such will ruin it very fast.
