    Hi.
Ive been trying to fix my aspire one a110 after a bios flasing gone wrog. But no luck at all. Tryd every bios flas recovery sugestions I have found. Opened the computer up and removed the cmos battery for about 12 houres, and placed it back inn but still no luck. I have even tryed to do it the hard way, connecting the 2 triangles on the MB and start it. No chanse in h..l ......

The power led is green and it registeres the ac adapter. It eve registeres exernal hdd. The screen remains black and no activity on the other leds.

So my only way to get this working now is replacing the MB with a new one, but where can I find a MB at a low price??

And if there is anyone else out there who maybe know another solution to this problem, I will open up my ears and try it out:D

    Regards and thanks

Hi and thanks for the reply.

Ive tryed that recovery mode, but no luck. And for the shop, I have checked them out. But it will cost me more to buy a MB then the computer cost. I live in norway and must pay 25% tax of everything that is over 30$ then the MB will be close to 400$ or more. I payd 250$ for the computer... hehe..

Since I have opened it, I do not have warrenty on it any more. Thats why I am looking for alternetives.

    Regards

You may be able to sell the parts of yours on ebay and receive enough to buy a new one.

sorry to burst your bubble mate but.. if the cmos was (partly) overwritten by the flash hence the machine not starting... then.. your 'factory defaults' are long gone.

the question is.. if you put it all back together the best you can, can it look like it was never opened? i would still chance it with Acer, whats the worse that can happen? They will wave a finger at you :geek: but not much else..

send it in after xmas, they gonna be swamped and will just replace with new ones

hehe, I am gonna do that if there is no solution for it. hehe... Have made me a deal from one of the stores here in norway, to pay about 100$ for a fix and installing 1 gb of ram.. but I am in need of the computer now, to do some work on it.. since I am on vacation..

    have you read this
    http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/clea ... e-one.html

they meen it will work to clear the cmos after a bad flash, but still I cant find the c1 config tap so I can try it out.lol

equidistant from both the last ram chip and the yellow sticker is the two 'triangles' you're loooking for..
about 3 mm i think. the writing on the pcb looks more a G1 to me but it could be an imperfection on the surface or something.

    ..in any case:
    - i dont read anywhere in that link that this should bring back to life in case of bad flash.
    - if the problem is a bad flash, your cmos has been already overwritten and you can NOT recover it like this
    - clearing the CMOS brings the pc back to defaults = the bios VALUES are reset to their original value NOT= the bios will be brought back to its original version

as I have said, I just read about this solution on a web site that directed me to that one. So I am not sure, but as far as I have read all over the web, the AA1 has a minibios somewhere on the MB.. But this is not something I am so sure about. This chip is suposed to have some sort of recovery procedure for bad bios flashing and will then be used when you connect those 2 points and power on.

If someone have tryed this, pleas comffirm it:D

As you said, I should just ship it to acer. hehe... But I need it now not in 2-4 weeks. hehe...

I have some very imporant documentson it I need have my hans on now. Some busness stuff...

    I hate this problem.grrr

    Sincerly
