Hi I am looking at a notebook that has Linux operating system can anyone tell me how easy it is to replace it with windows XP. The linux ones seem to be cheaper to buy but its weighing up the difference in adding a new operating system.

    Thanks for your help

There's no reason not to stick with Linux. Why not wait until you get it and try it out.

The price difference between an XP and Linux book is small compared to the cost of XP. Remember to compare like hardware with like, because XP arguably needs more hardware to run well (a hard drive and more RAM).

But if you're not the sort of person who would have answered the above question for himself with a search of ebay to find out the cost of a copy of XP, and a search of this forum for how to install XP (finding out about TinyXP and SSD tweaking software on the way) then you're really not someone who should try what you're considering. Even the way you asked the question (you didn't give machine specs, which will matter a lot) says "Don't do it!"

You are probably right thanks very much. I have researched the reviews but in your opinion do you rate Dell Inspiron 910 8.9" Netbook or a Acer A150.

    Thanks

I've no idea. I'd ask on a forum on general Netbook hardware rather than Linux software.
