    Hi!

Does anyone know whether it's possible to change hostname of Aspire One Linpus - from what I gather, the hostname gets reset every time the system reboots.

Also, is there some good reason for the reset? If there is a way to go remove the reset, will this then break some essential part of the system (such as networking)? Does anyone have any experiences with this?

Yeah, it's mostly a cosmeting thing. But "localhost" everywhere just looks so dull. :)

With Fedora 8, the hostname is defined in: /etc/sysconfig/network

Possibly you can just change it there and get what you want. With Acer's weird setup, I'm not sure how this would impact the system if it does at all?

BTW, the /etc/hosts file is rewritten on every boot, but I"d suspect that it's getting it's hostname from the file I mention above as that doesn't change.

    Cheers.
