I just got my AAO and wondered if I should charge it straight away or drain the battery first and then charge for optimal battery use?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what you do with the battery. You might as well charge it all the way.

    Hello,

Just got an AAO150 today and I am looking forward to using it but,

for how long should I charge the battery for it's initial charge?

The manuals say nothing about it.

    Thanks.

Lithium Ions are smart batteries.... they recharge and stop charging when fully charged. Leaving them plugged in does not degrade anything from the battery. As when the green light is lit(full charge), the recharging state is stopped automatically. :)

It's the draining part where Lithium Ions differ from regular NiCads.... It's best NOT to fully drain the AAO batteries. If possible you can recharge at 40-50% capacity. Cheers. :)
