    Hi all!

    First post but I've been browsing the forum since I bought my Acer Aspire A150 this past December.

    I've got a problem with running Civilisation IV. I've got an account with Steam and I've installed the game through the Steam client, however whenever I try and run the game, I get the following message:

    [attachment=0:3teuqg5m]civ_error.JPG[/attachment:3teuqg5m]

    I've tried modifying the config file to set the game resolution 1024 x 800, but I always get the same message.

    Any ideas how to get this working and if it's at all possible??

    Thanks,

    BB

    That's no good :(

    Is there any way to force 1024x768 on a scrolled display?

    i spent about three hours trying different solutions and scouring the web for help, it will only run in windowed mode.

    While it is only possible to run the game in Windowed mode, it is possible to get rid of the title bar. This gives the game the same screen area as it would have in fullscreen exclusive mode.

    The tool i've found for achieving this is called AltMove (v2.1.6). One of the 'actions' it supports is what it calls 'MaximizeFull', when triggered it will force-maximize the focussed window, and remove all borders & title bar.

    While this gives you the full screen area, the game still thinks it's in windowed, so push-scrolling does not work. (I also imagine the game would be a little faster if it were in true fullscreen mode)

    I have been using a program called AsTray 1.3.7 it forces the 1024x768 resolution so you can play fullscreen with scrolling, be sure to disable downscaling though as that has a big hit on performance.
