Hi All just to begin my aspire one is under windows XP with 160GB bios was recently upgraded to 3305.

I noticed that if I leave the aspire on for quite sometime, then when I shutdown, at the exact moment the laptop turns off I hear a click or snap sound. (its loud enough to be heard) I dont know if it is static form the screen?, the fan suddenly stopping? or maybe even the HD.

Is this normal? does anyone know what it is? and anyone experienced this?

    it's the hdd.
The heads are unloading. This is done to stop the heads 'crashing' on the platter surface at spin down. This tactic is part of a scheme to protect against premature wear of the disk surface.
    it's normal ;)
