I'm getting very frustrated with this machine. Nothing seems to work, even when cutting and pasting directly mine just seems to reject what I'm writing. I know I set the clock the other day and noticed it was ten minutes slow and then when i got round to changing it it was fifteen minutes. Now it's lost another ten minutes after I corrected it so it's definately losing time. Anyone heard of this before? Is there another way to fix this? Can the Aspire be recycled into something useful?

The clock thing is nothing I have never heard of before, but I can copy and paste fine ????

Maybe someone could help you with that portion.

I can only find time controls in Settings and in System and neither have an auto update in the options that i can see. How do I check for that? I'm using Linux if that makes a difference. I'm getting extremely fed up with this machine. If i can't sort it by the weekend it's going back to the shop for a refund.

I'm sorry, I can't work out what you mean here!

The clock certainly shouldn't lose time that fast, so a trip back to the shop with a complaint and asking for a replacement might be in order.

To update the time from Internet time servers, in a console type

    Code:
    sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org
There is a way of getting it to do this automatically, but perhaps come back to that if/when you either replace the machine or decide not to!
