I know Windows7 Media Player supports a lot more formats than previous Windows versions.

    I have 2 questions

    1) Which popular formats does it not support ?

    2) Is there a codec pack available that does not mess with anything the Windows7 Media Player already does by it self, but just adds a few codecs for those unsupported popular formats ?

    1) Probably a metric shitload of unsupported formats (as opposed to the imperial measurement)

    2) simplest and easiest answer is yes, always stay up to date with your codecs.

I use the K-Lite Mega CoDec Pack from http://www.free-codecs.com

    Thanks for your answer.

As far as I know k-lite also installs codecs for things Win7 already does by default.

Yeah it will, but in the process it's updating them as well. Not going to clog up your system or anything. I've had to install it on my AAO for a few music videos and other things that WMP just doesnt play.

I do now. The codec pack could not handle mpg properly. It crashed Win Media Player.

So I installed to the the pack I am using on my desktop

    KLite Basic

(don't you dare to say: I told you so)
