I have done a search and not found any thread for this situation: I can connect to the internet, both through a wireless network and a wired connection, but when I open up my browser no pages will open. There is no progress in the status bar it just sits doing nothing, not even spitting back a message about how it can't connect to a page. I'm using FF3, but this happened twice while I was using FF2. I've restarted numerous times, but still can't browse. I've also tried restarting the modem. I'd appreciate any help.

    TS --

Those symptoms sound like a DNS problem. I'm not at my AAO right now, so can't make any specific suggestions, but I would look at the network configuration and see if there is a problem with the DNS settings.

You might try using Open DNS:

    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220

Sorry to sound stupid, but how do I check my DNS settings? When I am hooked up the wireless network, the connection information says my primary DNS is 192.168.2.1 but that doesn't really mean much of anything to me.

Sorry for the double post, but it just started working again all of a sudden. Great to have it working again, but I'd like to know how to fix it if this crops up again in the future.

Ok I am at my One again, so here goes.

In advanced mode you can go to System/Network Center, or in basic mode just click on the network icon in the panel at the bottom and select connection manager.

Select the connection that is giving you the problem, and click on Edit. (You can not be connected at the time in order to edit.)

On the TCP/IP tab you probably have obtain address automatically checked. If you want to try Open DNS, then click the other button and enter the dotted quads (IP addresses) that I listed above.

That should at least help you determine if it is a DNS problem.
