    Hi,

I have been trying to checkout possible software to install.

If I use Yum or the Add/Remove programs from the desktop does not work. I get the error message :

Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: updates. Please verify its path and try again.

I have checked the web and this usually happens when the internet address in not available. If I check the path by putting into firefox it works okay. The link is

    http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirror ... &arch=i386

Anyone have a fix for this?

    Thanks.

You did update the repository info, right ?

    Code:
    sudo yum update fedora-release

    Thank you.

    Am getting the same error.

Again : kindly have a look at :
    viewtopic.php?f=17&t=177&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20.

It apears the same problem is being handled in two different places on this forum

    Possibly even more places.

Are you using routers with built-in firewalls ?

    Thank you.

At first sight router should not be the problem. But il investigate in more depth ...

It is also possible some other application (e.g. Acer Update) locked the database and forgot to release it.
    Try
    Code:
    sudo rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.*
