Just checking service manual and wondering about upgrading cpu: is it removable?

    Processor Support :

    • Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor LV and ULV
    • Intel Core Duo processor LV and ULV
    • Intel Core Solo processor ULV
    • Celeron M processor ULV
    • 533-MHz and 667-MHz front side bus (FSB) support

Does anyone know if there are any alternative CPUs we could upgrade our AAOs with? Anything faster then Atom? Anybody has any ideas or experience?

Processor is "Solder ball" mount. Which means the CPU does not have pins but has little balls of solder where each connection goes. Hundreds of balls of solder which are soldered to the motherboard by a special machine at the time of manufacturing.

You can consider the CPU non-replaceable.

I checked on my CPU and it is socketed on the board. All I need to do is pry up on it with a flat edge tool and it comes out of it's socket and therefore I should be able to plug in the 330 for dual core or another type Atom CPU. Do not have any other CPU's yet to try though.

I doubt it will work, unless you rewrite the BIOS to identify and support Dual Core or other types of Atom processors. I suspect the A110/150 BIOS only supports the N270 and N280 series Atoms. Likewise I suspect the 751h series BIOS only supports the Z series Atoms, and not the N series Atoms.

LOL, he probably just tore it off.

But seriously, don't all Atoms have a ball grid interface?
    (Yep, I'm back.)

Lol, this made me laugh. Yeah, mine for sure is non removable, and if he took his off, I bet he won't be getting it back on! lol. He would have to have ripped it right off the board.
