I was traveling during the holidays and found that somewhere along the way my LCD had cracked :-(

I called Acer Support and they wanted about $200 for the repair...I thought that I can buy a refurbished computer for $250.00 so why even bother...

Then I got a tip that you can get replacement LCDs on Ebay...I looked and sure enough! I purchased one from Seller: SunValleyUS for about US$40
Please note that I am not pimping this business...there maybe somewhere else even better but mine arrived in a couple of days and then I tackled the replacement.

It turned out that it was not that hard. I googled Aspire One Touchscreen and found several hits describing how to disassemble the computer. But for replacing the LCD it is only necessary to remove the front bezel around the display. There were 4 screws behind the plastic dots and on at the bottom on each side by the hinges.

I used a small knife to carefully pry off the screw 6 screw covers and then pulled on the upper edge to split the two halves. I slid a credit card along the edge and the case came apart easily.

The replacement LCD had an identical connector to the original display. I carefully unsnapped and replaced the connector and routed the cables to the microphone and camera. You have to remove the four metal mounting tabs and screw them on to the new LCD as well

It all went back together nicely and worked the first time I powered it up...a quick and easy 30 min job.

Hope this helps someone in the future

Did you take any pictures to help explain the steps?

I'll have a look into it.

Acer won't budge on repairing it, they insist that I must have damaged it even though there is no physical evidence of doing so. I was looking at buy an Acer Laptop to replace the Netbook for my son, but bought one from another manufacturer due to what has happened so a £500 sale lost.
