And it's my main way of transfering files between my notebook and my netbook.

Is there any way to get it recognized?

I installed Crunchbang on top of Kuki which was present, so I think the sickboy kernel is gone. I may reinstall it.

I have no clue why SD is not recognized by any slot but if you have LAN adapters in both use crossover cable and copy data - faster and more convenient...

    Not a solution for me.

I can use a USB key, it's not a huge deal. I just like to have things working.
Ok it does recognize the left hand slot if it's inserted during startup...

Hint: add pciehp_force=1 on the kernel line in boot/grub/menu.lst.
