Seems that OneLinux beta1 was just released. Tomorrow goes nicely with testing.

Do we know if that beta includes a custom kernel with CONFIG_MMC_UNSAFE_RESUME=y?

    Thanks,

    Allan

With OneLinux is this just like the normal Ubuntu Live CDs? So, boot it and kick the tyres, and then install to SSD if you want to?

I can't test myself as the AAO is for my wife's birthday and is still wrapped. :)

    Thanks

This would be great...the instructions for making my USB bootable are way too complicated. If you can just download the iso to a usb and then plug in and re-boot that would be fantastic. (Okay, may need to change boot order, but that is easy!!)

Nice work, this makes installing Ubuntu much simpler. It does not appear to have netbook remix installed by default, is that correct. The screen shots on the front page of the web site show remix.

It doesn't have netbook remix installed. The WLAN working by default was truly nice surprise; the WLAN led was blinking, but the WLAN switch doesn't work, hopefully it works in the later betas. OneLinux developers have been doing good job!

Unetbootin, that's what I need. I was wracking my brain trying to get this onto a usb last night, that's what I was missing....thanks I'm fairly new to linux.

Oh, anybody know if it's got the built in aufs support to attach the left sd slot to the sdd?

EDIT: I guess I'll find out, I'm putting it on my system right now!

I'll probably try this today if I can find some time. Can anybody post their experience?

    - What is the boot time?
    - What is the battery life?
    - Does wifi work out-of-the-box?
    - Does audio (headset/mic) work out-of-the-box?
    - Does hibernate/suspend work out-of-the-box?
    - Does the card-reader work out-of-the-box?

    Thanks!

boot time i would tell about 30-40 secondes ( haven't check it)
battery More than two hours ( same as the line before)
audio work ( mic haven't been tested)
    not tested
card reader work if you boot with card inside. The right only accept the one you boot with the left can be use with different card after booting. Sometime you need to reinsert the card

Thanks! Although I applaud this release, it doesn't seem to solve the current problems with Ubuntu.

Wireless won't work yet out of the box. If Intrepid goes with the 2.6.27 kernel, it will.

It's relatively trivial to get wireless working actually. I have a page on it (not Aspire oriented, but the steps would be the same) at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu ... .html#5007

Wifi worked for me with this distro without having to do anything. Seems like it lost some time on the battery life though, it's over two hours but not much. All in all though it's a great start.

Yes wifi works out of the box for me as well. Battery seems get used faster compared to XP, but I haven't quantified this yet. I have tried twice to install netbook remix over the top of Hardy and this distro, and remix does not seem to work for me. The screen becomes very slow and when I launch programs they disappear or only partly show up on the screen and the rest of the desktop turns white. Also the icons on the top bare kind of pop in and out and turn white. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

npease: do you have any composite turned on (like compiz?) if so, turn it off. Netbook remix launcher is incompatible with composite.
