I purchased two days ago the Acer Aspire 0751 for 399.99 and thought I had an awesome machine when I got home. For some it might be, but for what I was expecting, it really really let me down.

I thought I was getting a netbrowsing machine that had the capability to play some older game titles that I had not tried in years. Unfortunately I could not find anything I had that would run decent. Some of the titles I tried but failed with were: Morrowind, Freelancer, Knights of the old republic, Serious Sam, Dungeon Siege (this one worked but barely), Neverwinter nights 1, Quake 2 (choppy as hell?!?). I tried many others but those might get you an idea of how far back I tried. It did however, play the popcap style games with no trouble: Peggle, Atomica, Dynomite etc..

I was really disappointed in that machine, it did not even run Office as I thought it would. To expect it to handle two documents open at a time I thought was not a hefty expecation, but it failed at that. It would open and I could use them, but it was painfully slow.

Before you guys flame me, I rand decrapifier, cleaned out startup services and really freed up a lot.

I read more into it and found out that the D150 model lost out on 1gb ram, 100gb hdd space but gave me a slightly better Proc with a really better graphics proc. I have succsessfully been able to install and play with decent frames all of the said games above.

I was also happy that I was able to get a better machine (in my opinion) and also have 80 dollars returned to my credit card. In addition I was able to get the 6 cell battery model that came with Windows XP installed instead of Vista which was much better for me.

One more plus I would like to point out. Multitasking. I have been able to have a program installing, email open, and type this writeup all at the same time which I definitely could not do before on the 751 model. I am really glad that I went back to the store today because I was almost to the point where I was "accepting" the slowness of the other model. The difference between these two models was night and day.

Hope this writeup helps some of you that have the same expectations as me
