I know that the slot on the bottom of my D250 was made for WWAN but I was wondering if I could use it for a SSD. I have a couple of extra mini PCI-E SSD's around the office and wanted to decrease my boot time with Ubuntu (right now I am averaging 35 secs).

Does any one know if there is a way to get a SSD to work in that slot. If not what can I do? The only other mod I was thinking was TV tuner but that model doesn't support linux and how hard is it to run the antenna's?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I know it isn't an SSD, but there is a mini-PCI board out there that is for inserting a compact flash device. This board also has solder pads for a USB port. If I can find a larger (32/64GB) Compact Flash device cheap, I'm probably going to do add this to my D250.

Well I can tell you that the 8GB from a Mini 9 doesn't seem to work. I tried the taping of the 20th pin with a piece of label but it still isn't working.

i don't know if ssd would work, but did you upgrade the bios 1st? 1.06 (or 1.07, can't remember which) added support for the 2nd pcie slot. i have my bcm70012 running in there!

Without having any hardware or specs to use for comparing dimensions, what other options might be available for a mini-PCI adapter card? I'm begining to think that the CL module might be too large for the interior cavity (my thinking was to add some CF storage plus sold my Bluetooth dongle to the usb pad on the adapter.

Any other thoughts for mods on the mini-PCI? I hate to see it not being utilized. Thanks.
