    has anyone added a sim reader to a d250??? i was curious as to which sim reader is best... a 6 or 8 pin and what would the pinout on the board be (if different from previous models)???
    also, somehow molex double shipped a few to me but want to be sure which one is best suited...
    i have part numbers:
    47553-001 (6 pin) x2
    47603-0001 (8 pin) x2
    105034-1001 (2.66mm 6 pin) x1

    I have not seen any information on Sim readers for the D250. The best Sim reader is the one which best fits the mounting pad on the motherboard. Consider the Sim reader height and pin outs.

    But a 3G slot is always wired the same. There are six wires that the Sim reader needs. 1st you need to identify each pin of the Sim reader either by testing or refering to the Sim reader data sheet. 2nd you need to determine the order of these pins on the motherboard, that can be determined with a multimeter by measure the pins from the Mini PCI Express connector back to the Sim mounting pad.

    If the pins don't match to the pads on the motherboard, then the Sim reader will need to be rewired. See this thread for details on this rewiring on the AOA110 and AOA150;

    I'll take one of the 47553-001 if you want to sell it.

    If you have any trouble I can install the Sim reader for you, no charge.

    Since I have done the AOA110 and 150's, it should be staight forward. I can also test with Sierra MC8781 card.

    I will take good close up pictures (New camera) and add to the How To I have been working on. This should make it straight forward for anyone else who wants to mod their D250.
