Netbook was on this evening, perhaps an hour or so, and was put on the table while dinner was eaten. It was then noticed that the screen had gone a sort of faded out problem. I rebooted, and it seemed to fix the issue, but this time I noticed the sound wasn't working. I rebooted a second time, and this time the screen was mostly black during the boot up, and then when it "loaded" the display became corrupted, and now just shows vertical lines of various colours.

I plugged in an external monitor and it works there, but the screen on the machine itself is still not working. it seemed to me like moving the screen back and forth (closing and opening the lid) would make the display change, but it would always be corrupt. It seems like there might be a loose connection or something, but seems strange as it had only been sitting on the table when it was first noticed, so hardly involved in any kind of physical incident that could have caused it.

It was only bought 2 days before Christmas, so it's still under warranty and I've emailed acer about it, but judging by comments on here and in other places a) this seems to happen quite often on these machines and b) Acer support seems to be quite rubbish.

Did you resolve this problem? My A150 has just started exhibiting exactly the same symptoms.

Just to update. Sent the netbook back under warranty. Screen was replaced and I had it back in three days. Some confusion with the customer services rep who had logged my call as a broken, instead of Faulty, screen causing them to call me to tell me it was chargeable. But it wasn't.

    Good service.
