    Hi There,

I am hoping someone can assist. I have a dead Acer ZG5 laptop that has been working but appears to have died. I have listed below the spec of the laptop and wondered if someone could offer some assistance, Alas this is just out of warranty :?

    Model No:ZG5
    P/N: LU-s050B.106
    CPU:Intel Atom CPU N270
    Mem:1gb DDR2 ram
    HDD: 120gb ram
    OS: Windows XP

Now we have tried 2 PSU's so we know its not that, Reports around the we try to flash it but dont understand how we can do that when we dont even get a display, Is this possible? we have removed the battery and pressed the "power on" button down for 30 secs to discharge any static electricty to no avail, I am going to check the fan on the CPU as i know the laptop can shut itself down to prevent any harm if this is not working properly. Finally when we power the unit on you get a brief flicker if the power light when you plug the psu in but nothing else. same if the battery is unplugged. Anyway if you need anymore info please do not hesitate to drop me a message.

    cheers
    Rich

I take it from your statement that by no display you mean there is not a cursor on the screen and no access to the setup BIOS. It has been quite awhile since I flashed my AAO but I do remember that the process takes place before any screen comes up and I think the only indication is the power light flashes for about 10 min.

Here is a good set of instructions for flashing your bios.

You will need a second computer to build the BIOS Flash drive.

When you have the power cord plugged into the computer and the computer is off what color is the power light and is it flashing or steady?
