Linpus is rpm based rather than deb based (deb packages are for the Debian family of Linux distributions: Debian, Ubuntu, Sidux etc, whereas rpm packages work for Red Hat, Fedora, Mandriva and other related distributions). The best solution would be to find an rpm version of the package: www.rpmfind.com might be useful.

However you need to find an rpm which is compatible with Fedora version 8 (as that's the basis of Linpus) and even then might have issues with dependencies; ask again if that happens.

There is a program called 'alien' which can convert packages between formats, but it has its limitations and may not get everything right, so I'd treat that as a last resort.

The short answer is you can't . . . directly. However there is an app the will turn a .deb into a .rpm (and vice versa) called 'alien'. You will need to install it first, and it is not guaranteed to work, but it should do.
