I just bought it and realized everybody says the 1390 works. Will the 1490 work as well?

You need to check the chipset for this card. If it is broadcom based it will most likely work. However, you will need to modify the list of recognized cards to make it visible to the Acer. Do a search and you will find how to do this. I don't have time to find it now but if you can not, pm me.

Actually the 1490 works without any modifications at all. I am using one now....

My 1490 also worked OOB, but there are some revisions of the card that can cause issues. There was a thread over at insanelymac.com that went into more detail. Good luck.

Generally all cards with a Broadcomm chipset onboard should work on OS X.

Took mine from a Dell 620, and it works fine. No install or modding needed. Broadcomm chipset, iAtkos v5.
