hi i got my a1 from newegg.com and my has the intel ssd.
the atto test shows that I'm getting write speeds 11mb/s and read 29mb/s (i only run it from 1mb to 8mb).
how is this possible? (i thought the max write speed was 7mb?)
also if i buy the transcend ssd 16GB from transcend usa web site http://ec.transcendusa.com/product/Item ... 16GSSD10-M will this help? i don't think so it say read 30mb, write 10mb and that is what I'm getting with my intel ssd. anybody knows a similar ssd that will fit in a1 without modification but faster, lets say at least 50mb read and 20mb write?

Adrian, is that your MAX read speed, or the average. You want to focus on the average write speed since that one is most indicative of the SSD write speed under normal usage.

I have an AAO purchased in Canada from Canada Computers

I have the samsung drive. i first installed XP on NTFS out of force of habit but have since installed it on FAT32. I noticed the pausing was much more severe on NTFS but it is still there with FAT32, just not as bad.

So it seems that the slowdowns running XP are not only owed to the slow Intel SSD, but to driver issues?

Couldn't you just time how long it takes to transfer 100Mb worth of mp3's from usb-stick to the hard drive? The thumb drive is not going to be the bottle neck.. then you could find the WRITE speed by a little simple math, or am i missing some other variables here?

You link to bechmarks of a SSD connected on PCI-E, the One uses the slower ATA controller.

    Hi Skateasian and Dinb,

i used win xp home. I used atto benchmark and yes i gues those are the max speeds not the average speeds.

Ok, I didn't know it was a different controller.
Why Acer went for the ATA controller then if it's the bottleneck? (or specific to Atom motherboards? lower electrical consumption?...)
<<Tired of this intelSSD (Every software installation or update is a pain). :(

I asked this a while ago so now I know, reboot the One and press F2, check the IDE details.
