I almost bought two Acer's One yesterday, gladly I didn't.
I really think it is completely irresponsible from Acer's part
to ship the ONE with two different SDD with such a big read/write difference between them and
at the same price, without telling the costumer.
I think I will go and buy a EeePC 2g, that eventhough is only 80 dollars less, it has proved to
be a reliable little machine. Sad... I really like the ONE screen and keyboard.
    Cheers
    P.

Yes this is really a pity from Acer. I'm returning mine right away.
(Unless someone wants to buy it / NYC. Intel slow SSD though Linpus works fine).
I'll be buying the 1gb RAM / 120gb HD version with Linux next month.

Does the drive identify itself only as P-SSD 1800 or does it actually say Samsung? Who figured out it's Samsung?

Even though I have the 'slow' SSD, i'm still happy with it. I wasn't planning on running any photoshop apps anyway.

I think the US got the cheaper cards, because it's cheaper in the US. AA1 in UK is 299 Sterling? That's like, $2,00USD?

I keeeed, but it is $600 USD or damned close to it.

For $399 USD, (price reflects the additional 1GB RAM) i think it's a great price point, even with the slower SSD. I do plan to use the CF mod in the future, but it will be costly. I know I could get a 1.8 HDD, but I got this because I don't want moving parts and I assume, the spinning HDD will use more power, create more heat and be more prone to shock related damages.

So, I'm still happy with my subpar SSD.... for now :D

could you post which version you have together with the capacity of your battery?

in a german forum (click here for the german link) some people already those combinations and I have an assumption:
Everybody with a 2200 mAh battery has the (faster) Samsung SSD, and everybody with the larger 2400 mAh battery the (slower) Intel SSD...(click here for the english translation of the link above).

Maybe your specs can hedge my assumption ^^

    greetings

I'm from Holland, read the thread on the german forum and I can confirm that I as well have a slow SSD, but a 2400mAh battery. Fan seems to be quiet as well, but I haven't had the possibility to compare it to other Aspire 1's.

I'm thinking 8GB for the 300X and then a larger SDHC for storage.

Looks like there is a pattern. Unfortunately nobody posted which color they have. Could it be the White has other specs as the Blue?
Or ist it just the first batch that have the Samsung with smaller Battery and they now pumped up the Battery but saved on the SSD?

Sorry to burst your bubble but I have the slower SSD AND I have the 2200 MAH battery.

How reliable is the information source everyone is going to?

No idea, was never there before. Searched the deals online and found that store. I am not sure if they still have a sale.
