I bought a white & blue from the same shop in SimLim Sq (Singapore). The white comes with P1800 ssd while the blue has intel ssd. Both has 2400mah battery.

i got the slower one. sad but, after thinking about it, i don't intend to run windows here anyway. :) i can do all the basic stuff for this basic machine. :) I'm planning to do the Compact Flash card hack sometime next year, so it's not really a big deal if i got the slower one. :)

if Ubuntu beats the 20sec boot up time of Acer linpus then i won't hesitate to change it, but no Windows please. the AA1 is a secondary laptop which should boot up nearly as fast as opening my notebook. :)

To see which SSD you have while in Linpus do the following: Alt+F2 > Type "terminal" into the "Run program" line > At the command prompt type: lshal | grep P-SSD1800 (case sensitive). If you get a response then, you have the Samsung SSD. If not, then run the command lshal | grep SSD to see what SSD comes up.

I'm in Holland and I got this output from lshal |grep SSD:

    SSDPAMM0008G1EA

I really don't know what this means, is it an intel (think so), is it something else? No clue. Can't find this string in any meaningful manner on google. Perhaps someone here knows what SSD I have?

    thanks in advance..

Oh, I do have the 2400mAh battery which I guess is not really good news :( (that is, SSD wise)

EDIT: Oh, I just checked the front page of this site...bad news....
    oh well...intel....

I am a big fan of Ubuntu but I'm sorry to say that it won't match, let alone beat Linpus' boot time.

Linpus is a tailored, cut-down distro so it is always likely to be faster but there are boot optimisations that you can do under Ubuntu so it shouldn't be too bad (better than Windows at least).

Hey, thanks for the tip, Marcus2004! I just ordered mine from eSNG, for 40$CDN less than I expected to pay! I'm hopeful it will have the Samsung SSD as well.

Does anyone know if the Acer Ones sold by Amazon have the fast or the slow SSD? Apparently every customer from Newegg got the slow Intel, but I did not see any Amazon customrers saying which one they got (which would allow us to know if they are only selling the slow one in America)...

I bought mine in Maastricht The Netherlands (Mediamarkt) . It has the blue colour, the slower SSD and the better battery. And I prefer the better battery.

Bought my One from NCIX Canada and I also have the faster Samsung SSD. My One model is A0A 110-1955. I believe the US one is 110-1255 or something (read that in another thread here)
