disapearing drive on two aspire ones's-help

    Firstly my own aspire one has run flawlessly until yesterday.
    Turn it on and 90 % of the time it claims no hdd fitted. save bios settings and exit=normal boot. it's running 3309 bios and flashing bios to either earlier or same makes no difference.

    Second Aspire one new 320 gb hitachi drive no os as yet bios reports no drive fitted sometimes.

    both drives are 320gb hitachi with fall sensor.

    Since you obviously swapped out the original drive... the most like culprit is a loose HDD cable.... reseat the cables. make sure contacts are flush. ;)

    thanks, unfortunately the hard drive bolts into a caddy and the caddy bolts to the motherboard. there are no cables just connectors. The really strange bit is F2 then F10 to save and it will detect and boot every time you perform F2 and F10
